Is my home making me sick?
Chances are good that there are elevated levels of air pollution inside your home. According to the Environmental Protection Agency the air quality inside people’s homes is 2 to 3 times worse than the air outside, in many cases, even worse still. We breathe in a mouthful of particles with gulp of air some of those particles can be toxic.
Where does the pollution come from?
Indoor pollution has many sources, mold spores, dust mites, cleaning solvents, animal dander, and radon, just to name a few. While some of them can be eliminated or reduce most will continue to produce toxins.
What about my Furnace Filter?
Most furnace filters were not designed or intended to filter the air, they were meant to protect the furnace heating and cooling units from larger debris. Most existing filters only take out 5%-15% of the air particles.
What about Air Exchanger?
Air exchangers are designed to bring in outside air to help balance the amount of air consumed by your homes mechanical appliances that exhaust to the outside of the home like the furnace, dryer and water heater. Air Exchangers became part of the State Building code in 2000 as a result of homes being built to “tight” to ventilate on there own. Some are equipped with filters to filter the air being brought in but the do not filter the air inside your home.
How many types of air purifiers are there?
I, Ionizing Air Cleaners. Once perceived as the industry standard their popularity has dropped of dramatically do in large part to the ozone they can produce which is a hazard itself. Electrostatic charged air creates charged air molecules known as ions, which are supposed to cling to airborne particles. Oppositely charged plates or “filters” attract particles. It is the opinion of Purified Homes, LLC that these types of air purifiers should not be used because of the ozone they produce and the potential health risks.
II, Ultra violate light. Design to kill airborne bacteria and used often in restaurants and food preparation areas and limited medical use. Various home applications available and can be mounted in existing duct work. Generally not effect for whole house use and only kills airborne “live” bacteria, does not remove .
III. Air Filters. There are several different types of with the H.E.P.A. being the most widely recognized. Developed in the 1940’s by scientists working on the Atomic bomb the H.E.P.A. has been refined and perfected. It is the filter of choice for most medical applications and industrial “clean” rooms. There are other types of filters but, we prefer the H.E.P.A. do to the fact that it can filter out particles down to .3 microns. Using the Purified Homes system your indoor air quality will improve 99.97%.
What type of Air Purifier is best for my home?
While all homes are different and exposed to different hazards, most can be adequately serviced by one or two different machines. We recommend an in home consultation with one of our pure air experts to determine the level of particulates in the air and the best solutions to make your home healthy.
